Diet/Binge Cyle Most people who want to lose weight have already tried dieting so they are very aware of what they're supposed to be eating. The problem arises when your conscious desire to lose weight conflicts with underlying habits and attitudes toward the food. Part of you says, I know what I'm supposed to be eating but I make bad choices anyway. I find myself going for the treats and overeating even when I'm not hungry. For many, you tell yourself to diet and then a part of you feels deprived and you go back to the food. Or something stressful happens and you overeat. Then, you feel guilty for eating too much which causes more negative feelings like anger and guilt. Unconsciously, to soothe yourself, you overeat even more! This is called the Diet Binge Cycle

It's Not Just About the Food! Addressing your life as a whole can begin to break this cycle. Here are some common reasons people overeat that, if addressed, can lead to the lasting change: · You eat to reward or entertain yourself- It is a way of life in our society to reward with food and people dine together as a form of entertainment. Hypnosis can help to shift to more healthy forms of reward and help you adjust to your portion consumption so you can stay slim and still enjoy life.

· You eat to relieve stress and relax - Eating is relaxing! For many, eating is a subconscious way to calm or wind down.

· You eat to feel more powerful or safe - For some, it can help to draw boundaries and ward off sexual interest.

· You eat to avoid your emotions- For some overeating is a way to avoid uncomfortable feelings and thoughts.

· You eat when you need love - As infants, milk was a way to soothe a crying baby. It is a primitive form of conditioning to associate food with love, care, and affection. Hypnotherapy can help to shift your internal methods of nurturing yourself to an updated and more constructive way of living.

· You eat to feel less attractive and avoid unwanted attetnion - Surprisingly I do see a number of clients who overeat to ward off unwanted sexual attention. Many people who have a history of abuse may eat for this reason. Others do it to keep themselves from straying outside their current relationship.

· You eat to cope with emotional senstivity - Some people tend to be very sensitive to the emotions and moods of others. Oftentimes, if this is the case, eating is a way to emotionally soothe, numb or protect yourself.

Summary of Research Proving Hypnosis Works to Help You Lose Weight

2 Years Later Hypnosis Subjects Continued To Lose Significant Weight:
109 people completed a behavioral treatment for weight management either with or without the addition of hypnosis. At the end of the 9-week program, both interventions resulted in significant weight reduction. At 8-month and 2-year follow-ups, the hypnosis subjects were found to have continued to lose significant weight, while those in the behavioral-treatment-only group showed little further change. Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology (1985)

Hypnosis Subjects Lost More Weight Than 90% of Others and Kept it Off Researchers analyzed 18 studies comparing a cognitive behavioral therapy, such as relaxation training, guided imagery, self monitoring or goal setting with the same therapy supplemented by hypnosis. Those who received the hypnosis lost more weight than 90 percent of the non hypnosis, and maintained the weight loss two years after treatment ended.

Hypnosis More Than Doubled Average Weight Loss
Study of the effect of adding hypnosis to cognitive- behavioral treatments for weight reduction, additional data were obtained from authors of 2 studies. Analyses indicated that the benefits of hypnosis increased substantially over time. Kirsch, Irving (1996). Hypnotic enhancement of cognitive-behavioral weight loss treatments--Another meta-reanalysis. Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 64 (3), 517-519. Hypnosis Showed Significantly Lower Post-Treatment Weights.

Hypnosis Showed Significantly Lower Post Treatment Weights
Two studies compared overweight smoking and non-smoking adult women in an hypnosis-based, weight-loss program. Both achieved significant weight losses and decreases in Body Mass Index. Follow-up study replicated significant weight losses and declines in Body Mass Index. The overt aversion and hypnosis program yielded significantly lower post-treatment weights and a greater average number of pounds lost. Hypnotherapy Group with Stress Reduction Achieved More Weight Loss
Randomised, controlled, parallel study of two forms of hypnotherapy (directed at stress reduction or energy intake reduction), vs dietary advice alone in 60 obese patients with obstructive sleep apnea on nasal continuous positive airway pressure treatment. Hypnosis Can More Than Double the Effects of Traditional Weight Loss Approaches
An analysis of five weight loss studies reported in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology in 1996 showed that "the weight loss reported in the five studies indicates that hypnosis can more than double the effects" of traditional weight loss approaches.- University of Connecticut, Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology in 1996 (Vol. 64, No. 3, pgs 517-519)

Weight Loss is Greater Where Hypnosis is Utilized
Research into cognitive-behavioral weight loss treatments established that weight loss is greater where hypnosis is utilized. It was also established that the benefits of hypnosis increase over time.- Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology (1996)

Hypnosis is An Effective Way To Lose Weight
A study of 60 females who were at least 20% overweight and not involved in other treatment showed hypnosis is an effective way to lose weight.- Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology (1986)

How Does Hypnosis Work?
Hypnosis helps you change the thought patterns that lead you to overeat or sabotage your own progress. It helps you to avoid the pain and suffering of diets. With hypnotherapy, you are working on shifting your ways of thinking to be in line with that of a more slim version of you! In this manner, you make healthy changes that you can actually sustain long after you complete the program, thus enabling you to maintain a healthier weight for the rest of your life. This methodology promotes a significant yet gradual and long-lasting weight loss which includes suggestions for craving healthy foods, portion control, shifting your inner body image, and breaking the habit of emotional overeating. After 17 years working with clients, Rebecca knows what works!
